No matter where a firefighter or fire officer is assigned, they are engaged in prevention activity according to Shane Ray, President of the National Fire Sprinkler Association. A retired fire chief, Chief Ray has, for many years, been one of this nation’s most articulate and passionate believers in the mandatory fire sprinkler movement. He advocates that all fire departments become supporters of Firefighter Life Safety Initiative 15 concerning codes and sprinklers. Chief Ray preaches the value of a three pronged approach to fire safety; early warning systems, early suppression activity and the highest standards of operational excellence for first responders.
“Early warning. Early Suppression. Emergency Response. That’s your role. Help us play that role. Know codes and standards.” – Shane Ray
